Devastated by the April 2015 earthquake, trekking in Langtang is slowly reviving. And your visit to this region will certainly make a big contribution. Langtang Valley Kyanjin Gompa Trek is certainly the trek you would treasure.
The Langtang valley is just about 19 miles north from Kathmandu. However the remoteness and stunning landscape makes you feel that you are hundreds of miles away. The bus ride to the trekking starting Point, Dhunche, takes approx 7 hours. The trail then passes along the river and dramatic ridges through mountain villages inhabited by Tamang, Sherpa and people from Tibetan descendants, and through lush forest of rhododendron, conifers and oaks.
As the name suggests Langtang Valley Kyanjin Gompa Trek takes you to the famous Kyanjin Gompa all the way from Dhunche to Kyanjin Gompa via Syabrubesi and Langtang valley. The trail is amazing and the most rewarding as it can be all throughout. Kyanjin Gompa is popular for the ancient gompa, glaciers and cheese factory. It also offers an opportunity to climb Kyangjin Ri and Tsergo Ri from where the 360 degree view of the mountains are simply stunning and awe inspiring. The towering peaks likes of Langtang Himal, Dorje Lhakpa, Langtang Lirung, Langshisha Ri along with many other snow capped majestic Himalayas appear so close to you.

Day 05: Trek to Mundu (3550m) via Langtang village (3430m), 6-7 hours
Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m), 3-4 hours
Day 07: Explore and Climb Tserko Ri (5150m)
Day 08: Trek back to Lama Hotel, 5-6 hours
Day 09: Trek back to Syabrubesi. 5-6 hours
Day 10: Drive back to Kathmandu. A scenic drive of 7-8 hours
Day 11: Departure day. Transfer to airport fly back home
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon arrival you will be greeted and welcomed by our representative at the airport. You will then be transferred to the hotel booked for you. A pre departure meeting will be scheduled as time permits. During the meeting, you will be introduced to the leader/guide who will be guiding you all throughout the trek. You will also be briefed about the program that starts from the next day.

Day 02: Guided city tour of Kathmandu
Today you will be guided through various cultural, historical and architectural monuments of the Kathmandu. The centuries old monuments are full of legends and beliefs and the Durbar squares of medieval Kathmandu are full of intricate carving and superb collection of architectural riches. The qualified and experienced tour guide will lead you and show you around. The time after tour is for preparation for Langtang Valley Trek.

Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi (1550m), 7-8 hours
The day starts pretty early with a drive to Syabrubesi. Approximately 8 hours drive through beautiful villages and on a winding road at the foot of the mountains which on a clear day offers a magnificent view of Manaslu, Annapurna and, Ganesh Himal and more. Syabrubesi is a beautiful village and a trekking starting point for trekking in Langtang.

Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel (2380m), 5-6 hours
The first day of walking starts along the bank of Langtang Khola and then gently climbs to Bamboo then to Ramche at 2400m. The trail goes through the forest of rhododendron, oak, bamboos inhabited by red pandas, boars, monkeys, various birds etc . You will get to admire the diverse flora and fauna of the region all along.

Day 05: Trek to Mundu (3550m) via Langtang village (3430m), 6-7 hours
The trek to Mundu village goes through dense forest. Climbing up through valley, you will be greeted by a mesmerizing view of Lantang Lirung. The trail moves further through Ghoda Tabela and Langtang village which was devastated by the 2015 April earthquakes. Life here is slowly getting back on foot after the entire village was washed away by the avalanche triggered by the quakes. Leaving Langtang village and moving slightly further you will get to small but beautiful village of Mundu.

Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m), 3-4 hours
A relatively shorter trekking day through small villages and yak pastures with gradual climb. As you climb the valley opens up further and the view becomes more extensive as mountains appear closer. Crossing several streams and moraines and appreciating Buddhist culture and tradition as beautifully narrated into ever fluttering prayer flags and Mani wall, you will reach Kyanjin Gompa. In Kyanjin Gompa, you will be seeing the legendary monastery, yak cheese factory and beautiful locality.

Day 07: Explore and Climb Tserko Ri (5150m)
This day provides a beautiful experience of climbing of Tserko Ri. This is one of the best view points to enjoy the Himalayan sceneries. Or optional excursion to visit Langtang glaciers, Langshisha kharka etc can also be enjoyed. It’s indeed a great exploration at Kyanjin Gompa one way or the other.

Day 08: Trek back to Lama Hotel, 5-6 hours
The trail retracts back to Lama Hotel. The downhill all the way back to Lama Hotel might sound a little boredom but the views you see will make you feel as if you somehow missed those amazing sceneries and you would regret even for a second.

Day 09: Trek back to Syabrubesi, 5-6 hours
Leaving the mountain behind, today the trail descends to Syabrubesi. It’s mainly downhill walk through lush green vegetation.

Day 10: Drive back to Kathmandu, 7-8 hours
After breakfast, drive the same road back to Kathmandu. After checking into hotel, you will have some time to explore on your own, do shopping or relax.
