One of the highest trekking peaks in Nepal, Mera Peak (6461m) climb is one of the most sought-after climbing trips in the Himalaya. Despite its height, it’s an ideal challenge for a first-time climb in Himalaya. Trekking through beautiful Sherpa villages of Solukhumbhu and the blue pine and rhododendron forest of Hinku valley, you will appreciate the amazing sceneries and unspoiled ecology all along the way. And it’s also an excellent trekking opportunity because the trail and landscapes it involves are simply amazing. Meara peak (6461m) climb can be pretty challenging physically but it’s not technically demanding. But the amazing and unequaled views of 5 of 6 world’s highest mountains, Everest 8848m, Kanchenjunga 8586m, Lhotse 8516, Makalu 846m, Cho Oyu 8201m, will certainly pay you off for all the effort you have put in to climb.
The Mera Peak climb comes at the end of approx one week trekking and acclimatization program designed to you with some of the best rewarding and enjoyable experiences in the Himalaya. The program is flexible to customize to include your interest and requirement. Hence, your suggestion will us prepare a program that best serves your requirement.
Outline Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu. Pick up from airport and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Guided city tour of Kathmandu. Briefing and preparation for the trip.
Day 03: The trek starts. Fly to Lukla, 2804m. Trek to Paiyu (2730m), 5 –6 hours
Day 04: Trek to Pangkongma (2850m), 5-6 hours
Day 05: Trek to Nashing Dingma (2590m), 4-5 hours
Day 06: Trek to Chhetrakhola (3150m), 7-8 hours
Day 07: Trek to Kothe (3690m), 6-7 hours
Day 08: Trek to Thangnak (4350m), approx 4 hours
Day 09: In Thangnak. Acclimatization and Exploration.
Day 10: Trek to Khare, 5045m, 3-4 hours
Day 11: Trek to Mera Base camp (5300m), 2-3 hours, (& climbing training)
Day 12: Climb to High Camp (5800m), 5-6 hours
Day 13: Climb to Summit (6461m) and revel in the glory of the success. Descend down to Khare, 9-10 hours
Day 14: Reserve day for contingency. This day is needed in case of bad weather or any other emergency
Day 15: Trek back to Kothe, 4-5 hours
Day 16: Trek to Thuli Kharka, 6-7 hours
Day 17: Trek to Lukla, 7-8 hours
Day 18: Fly back to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel
Day 19: Departure day. Transfer to airport and fly back home
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon arrival you will be greeted and welcomed by our representative at the airport. You will then be transferred to the hotel booked for you. A pre departure meeting will be scheduled as time permits. During the meeting, you will be introduced to the guides (tour, trekking & climbing) who will be guiding you all throughout the trip. You will also be briefed about the entire program that starts from the next day.

Day 02: Guided city tour of Kathmandu
Today you will be visiting various cultural, historical and architectural monuments of the Kathmandu. The centuries old monuments are full of legends and beliefs and the Durbar squares of medieval Kathmandu are full of intricate carving and superb collection of architectural riches. The qualified and experienced tour guide will lead you and show you around. The time after tour is for preparation for your trip.

Day 03: The trek starts. Fly to Lukla, 2804m. Trek to Paiyu (2730m), 5 –6 hours
The trip starts with an early morning flight to Lukla. A scenic and memorable flight of approx 35 minutes will take you to the Lukla, the gateway to Everest. The trek starts and goes through the jungle before crossing bringing over Handi Khola. The village of Sukre will soon follow and from here continuing southwards and crossing Chutok La pass, the trek reaches a small settlement at Paiyu. Overnight at Paiyu.

Day 04: Trek to Pangkongma (2850m), 5-6 hours
Initial downhill walk to reach a small wooden bridge. The trail further moves through slippery trail to cross Kari La pass. The trail will go through village and forest of rhododendron and bamboos along the narrow mountain trail. The views of Dukoshi valley and Dudhkunda Himal will soon mesmerize before you reach the beautiful Pangkongma village for overnight.

Day 05: Trek to Nashing Dingma (2590m), 4-5 hours
The trail descends along rocky trail through rhododendron forest and cross Pangkongma La. The trail then ascends on a steady trail and passes by Mani walls and reaches Shibuche. The trail continues and descends to Hinku Khola. Crossing the bridge and passing through Gai Kharka, the yak grazing area, the trek for today ends at Nashing Dingma.

Day 06: Trek to Chhetrakhola (3150m), 7-8 hours
From Nashing Dingma the trail descends to Surke La pass and continues downhill for a while. Shortly the trail starts ascending and passes through Phokte village, Chalem kharka and Danda Kharka. Ascending to Panch Pokhari and final walk along snaky trail will take to Chhetra Khola.

Day 07: Trek to Kothe (3690m), 6-7 hours
Initial uphill walk to a vantage point of Hinku valley which offers mesmerizing views of Mera peak and Hinku valley. The trail descends through the untouched and tranquil forests of pine, moss and rhododendron. Walking further reaches the village of Kothe with a few teahouses and summer pasture.

Day 08: Trek to Thangnak (4350m), approx 4 hours
The day starts walking along the ridge of Hinku Khola and in the shadow of west face of Mera in the morning. Passing through the summer settlement of herders at Gondishung, the trail passes by more than 200-year-old Lungsumba Gompa. The walking a little further will take you to the village of Thangnak with teahouses and summer grazing area.

Day 09: In Thangnak
It’s a rest day at Thangnak for acclimatization. A day hike to the glacier at approx 5000m of Charpate Himal which is regarded as holy and worshiped by Sherpas will be organized. It’s approx 4 hours walk uphill and downhill in total which will help you stay active and fit for following days adventures.

Day 10: Trek to Khare, 5045m, 3-4 hours
Heading towards Mera peak, the trail follows eastwards across the moraine of Dig glacier to Dig Kharka offering great views of Charpate Himal. The trail climbs up the moraines of Hinku Nup and Shar glaciers then further climbs more steeply to Khare, the place that rewards you with some stunning views.

Day 11: Trek to Mera Base camp (5300m), 2-3 hours, (& climbing training)
The rock strewn trail takes you to Base camp. The trail is short but steep hence takes about 3 hours. After reaching the base camp, there will be a training/some instructions on climbing. If you newer to the climb, you will have to learn quite a lot. The guide will be experienced enough to instruct you to achieve your goal. You might even walk up to Mera La as a part of training and acclimatization. Over night at base camp

Day 12: Climb to High Camp (5800m), 5-6 hours
Following the easy angled snow slopes and avoiding the crevasses, it’s about 5 hours walk. Perched on the rock ledge above the glacier, the high camp offers fantastic views of surrounding mountains.

Day 13: Climb to Summit (6461m)and descend down to Khare, 9-10 hours
Certainly the main day of the trip, you will start early in the morning. Climbing up the glacier on to the ridge enjoying the magnificent views as the first rays of the Sun hit the peaks in stunningly red glow. Behind the ridge is the steepening the slope and then there appears the summit. Soon you will be able to realize your dream of stepping on the Himalayan peak. With the triumph feel you will soak in a stunning panorama of many world’s highest peaks. Retrace the steps back to High camp then to Base camp before trekking back to Khare.

Day 14: Reserve day for contingency
As there is no guarantee of favorable weather for climb, having a spare day would always be ideal. So, a day is set aside in case such situation arises. If everything goes as planed, this day won’t be required.
Day 15: Trek back to Kothe, 4-5 hours
Trek back on the same trail that you previously walked while going up.

Day 16: Trek to Thuli Kharka, 6-7 hours
Crossing Inkhu Khola and Sanu Khola and passing through Tashing Dingma, you will reach Thuli Kharka.

Day 17: Trek to Lukla, 7-8 hours
Crossing Zatrwa La pass at 4600 m, and walking downhill to Chutanga will take you to Lukla. The amazing scenery along way will keep greeting you. It’s time to celebrate the celebrate the success of the trip. Enjoy in your own and relax.
Day 18: Fly back to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel
By the early flight, you will flight back to Kathmandu. Upon landing at Kathmandu airport, you will then be transferred to hotel. The afternoon is for you to explore and relax. If you have further planning, we can make the arrangement. In the evening enjoy farewell dinner hosted by Grande Adventures.
