The Everest base camp trek for Seniors is different version itinerary from our regular Everest Base Camp Trekking as it includes more time to relax, enjoy the surrounding scenery and culture but less activities of walking and ascending in a day. Hence, it will help you feel fresh and comfortable both physically and psychologically every day. Our staffs are particularly trained for this trip so that they can deal with any kind of circumstances that may arise during the trek with the senior citizens. Unlike in other trekking, besides the highly experienced and knowledgeable guide, every trekker will get a porter each so that they can feel more comfortable and relaxed. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, 1342m.

Day 02: Guided city tour of Kathmandu
Today you will be visiting various cultural, historical and architectural monuments of the Kathmandu. The centuries old monuments are full of legends and beliefs and the ancient Durbar/Palace squares of medieval Kathmandu are full of intricate carving and superb collection of architectural riches. The qualified and experienced tour guide will lead you and show you around. The time after tour is for preparation for your trip.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2800m) and trek Phakding (2610 m) approx 3 hours
Flying to Lukla is itself a great experience. Enjoy the experience with the spectacular views. After a brief preparation, the trek proceeds by descending to Chaunrikharka and heading up the Dudh Koshi valley to reach Phakding. Overnight at Phakding

Day 04: Trek Phakding to Monjo, (2835m), approx 3 hours
The trail goes though forests, follows Dudh Koshi river crossing suspension bridges which is itself a wonderful experience. Fantastic views of Thamserku and other mountains appear closer. Overnight at Monjo.

Day 05: Trek Monjo to Namche Bazaar (3440 m) approx 4 hours
Trail still follows Dudhkushi river crossing bridges and offering gorgeous views along. Namchebazar is a commercial center of Khumbu region, also known as gateway to Mt. Everest. It is home of Sherpa ethnic group, the renowned mountaineers in the world. Their traditional occupation used to be yak herders and traders and now the time has changed their occupation to tourism. Day 06: A rest day for acclimatization and exploration in Namche Bazaar
Explore and experience the Sherpa culture, lifestyle and landscape of Namche and also visit local museum and village etc. Overnight at Namche Bazaar

Day 07: Trek Namche to Khumjung (3,780m), 3-4 hours
Returning back down the valley and then taking a high trail that bypasses Namche, the trail finally drops into Khumjung, one of the most beautiful villages in Khumbu. The Himalayan Trust, founded by Sir Edmund Hillary has a school here and a medical post in nearby Khunde. Overnight at Khumjung.

Day 08: Trek Khumjung to Tengboche(3860m), 5-6 hour
Descending to the Dudh Khosi river and enjoying spectacular views of Ama Dablam (6696m), Kantega (6779m), Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8501m) the crosses the river at Phortse Thanga and climbs through the Rhododendron forest to the saddle at the top of the hill, right in front of us is Tengboche. The Tengboche monastery is the largest monastery in Khumbu region from where you could enjoy the unforgettable views. Overnight at Tengboche.

Day 09: Rest/acclimatization day at Tengboche
Another day of rest and acclimatization will be helpful for your body and it also offers the opportunity for a half-day hike to get close-up views of Ama Dablam from nearby ridges. Overnight at Tengboche.

Day 10: Trek Tengboche to Dingboche (4410m), 6-7 hours
An initial slight descent through lush forest before a gradual climb up to the valley takes you to the settlement of Pangboche (3,860m). The trail continues ascending in the afternoon through alpine meadows and yak herds to reach Dingboche. Overnight at Dingboche.

Difficulty: Moderate to fairly strenuous

Day 11: Rest & Acclimatization day
Another day of rest and acclimatization to get adapted to increased elevation. This day offers mainly two options of hiking. One which is shorter option ascends the hill immediately behind Dingboche to drop steeply down to Periche. And another which is longer option is to hike up the Imja Tse valley towards Island Peak to Chhukung Ri. The views of Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Cho Oyu from here are outstanding. Overnight at Dingboche.

Day 12: Trek Dingboche to Lobuche(4910m), 6-7 hour
The trail starts with a gradual climb to Dughla at the lateral terminal moraine of Khumbu glacier from where stunning views of Tawache and Cholatse (6440m). The trail then ascends steeply to Chupki Lhara when we come across several stone memorials with ever fluttering prayer flags prying for the eternal peace of souls of those who lost lives while conquering the majestic Himalayas. The trail further ascends to reach the beautiful village of Lobuche. As the altitude climbing, you will expect colder nights.

Day 13: Trek Lubuche to Gorak Shep(5140m), 4-5 hours
Walking gently for around 2 hours along the Khumbu glacier and crossing Changri glacier, you will be at Gorakhshep.

Day 14: Trek Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp- Gorakhshep, 4-5 hours
The most awaited day of the trip comes as you finally make it to Everest Base Camp (5,364m). Walking through rocky and glacial trails you reach the ultimate destination of the trek. The views of Khumbu icefall, Khumbutse, Lingtren, Nuptse and Pumori are awesome. The fluttering sounds of innumerous prayer flags and the equally uncountable arrays of stones built to mark the visits make it a sight of different world. After reveling in the most cherished moment, trek back to Gorakhshep. Overnight.

Day 15: Hike to Kalapatthar and trek back to Pheriche 7-8 hours
Early morning hike to Kalapatthar for the most spectacular view of the Everest and other gigantic mountains. The trail is pretty steep but you will be walking at a comfortable pace and your effort is greatly paid off when you can’t help yourself from appreciating the most impressive Himalayan Panorama. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Chagatse, Pumori are a few to name among many others. Trek back to Gorakhshep and further back to Pheriche. The trail from Gorakhshep to Pheriche is a gradual descent on rocky terrain that crosses small streams and offers mesmerizing views. Overnight at Pheriche.

Day 16: Trek Pheriche to Tengboche (3860m), 5-6 hours
The trek to Pangboche is a fairly gradual descent along the river and passes through pine tree-forest before a short climb up to Pangboche (3,930m) which lies on the bank of Imja Khola. There is the oldest monastery of the region where the bone of legendary Yeti is believed to be kept. The trail further descends through rhododendron, junipers and pine forest when you may come across many wild animals like mountain goats like Ghoral, Tharal and pheasants. Gentle ascent to reach Tengboche. Overnight at Tengboche.

Day 17: Trek Tengboche to Namche Bazaar (3440m), 5-6 hours
The walk from Tengboche is mostly downhill on the main trail with a few steep climbs to reach Phungitenga . A relatively easier downhill scenic walk on a long winding path brings you to Namche. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Day 18: Trek Namche Bazaar to Phakding (2610), 3-4 hours
The trail is mostly downhill to the Hillary Suspension Bridge and then continues on an easy natural trail with amazing views and reaches Phakding. Overnight in Phakding.

Day 19: Trek Phakding to Lukla (2840m), approx 3 hours
Last day of the trip, the trail takes us back to Lukla . Upon reaching Lukla everyone will have a sense of victory that is achieving the goal of reaching the base camp. Enjoy and celebrate in your own style and relax and stretch your tired legs. Overnight at Lukla.

Day 20: Fly back to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel
By the early flight, you will flight back to Kathmandu. Upon landing at Kathmandu airport, you will then be transferred to hotel. The afternoon is for you to explore and relax. If you have further planning, we can make the arrangement. In the evening enjoy farewell dinner hosted by Grande Adventures.
