Chitwan National Park is the first and the most popular national park in Nepal, offers some great wilderness adventures. The national park is extremely rich in ecosystem and provides its visitors with plenty of opportunities of exploring wildlife and enjoying it at its best. Chitwan wildlife safari is a very popular program among the wildlife lovers.
Chitwan is home to more than 68 species of mammals including rhino, royal Bengal tiger and more, more than 49 species of reptiles and amphibians, more than 120 species of fishes, more than 576 species of birds. And more than 570 species of plants have been found here. You will have the opportunity to see them. Besides you will also have the chance to get insight into the tradition and lifestyle of local Tharu people and enjoy their cultural shows.
2 nights/3 days Chitwan Wildlife safari program is the most popular trip as it includes most of the activities that Chitwan is known for. This can be beautifully combined with other tours and trekking programs. The following is the general itinerary. However programs can be arranged as you prefer them to be.
Outline Itinerary
Day 01: Drive to Chitwan. Enjoy the scenic drive of 5-6 hours. Upon arrival welcome and briefing followed by some programs.
Day 02: Full day jungle activities. Elephant ride, canoeing, jungle walk, elephant breeding center visit etc are the major attractions.
Day 03: Bird watching and departure. Drive back to Kathmandu or onward destination.
Day 01: Drive to Chitwan and program
A scenic drive of 5-6 hours will take you to Chitwan national park. After checking into the resort, you will be briefed about the entire programs that you will be undertaking and enjoying. After lunch and a short rest, some activities such as village walk will be arranged.
In the evening enjoy the local Tharu cultural performances which showcase their unique and inspiring culture and tradition.

Day 02: Full day jungle activities
You will receive an early wake-up call. After the breakfast, the day starts with canoeing on Rapti river. The experience of canoeing on a unique dugout canoe to observe the crocodiles and various species of birds, is simple awesome. The canoe trip will be soon followed by jungle/nature walk and visit to the elephant center. The breeding center is impressive where you can know about elephant and their eating habits. And coming across some young and sometime new born baby elephant is particularly beautiful. You will be driven back to resort for lunch and a break before you undertake another adventure; that is elephant ride. Elephant ride is clearly the highlight of the entire trip as it provides you the opportunities of observing various, rare and endangered animals. Although you will be seeing many animals but one horned rhino steals the show. You are mostly likely to see this amazing and highly endangered animal. However you have to be extremely lucky to see the Royal Bengal Tiger.
After a day full of activities, it’s time to relax.
