This tour starts in Kathmandu – Nepal’s capital – an explosion of colour, sounds, cultures and religions, continues on to the peaceful lakeside town of Pokhara for sunrise over the Annapurna mountain range of the Himalayas and ends in Nagarkot arguably one of the most superb locations to watch the sun set and rise over the Himalayan panorama. DAY 1: KATHMANDU (1,400m)
Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and be met by a representative of Getaway! Himalayan Eco Trekking. Transfer to hotel.
Visit to the iconic Boudhanath stupa, one of the world’s biggest and most important Buddhist stupas and one of the only places in the world where you can see the daily routines of Tibetan monks and nuns. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
DAY 2: KATHMANDU
Visit to 3 UNESCO world heritage sites: Pashupatinath Temple one of the most sacred Hindu Temples of Nepal, dedicated to God Shiva where sadhus come to pray and cermations take place on the banks of the holy river; Patan Durbar Square the city of fine arts full of ancient palaces, temples and shrines; and Swayambhunath, colourfully decorated with prayer flags it is Nepal’s oldest Buddhist stupa and offers stunning views of the Kathmandu valley. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
DAY 3: KATHMANDU – POKHARA (827m) (200 km)
7 hour drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara’s lakeside.
DAY 4: POKHARA – SARANGKOT (1,590m) – POKHARA
Early morning drive or hike to the village of Sarangkot, just north of Phewa Lake for a spectacular sunrise panoramic view over the Annapurna range of the Himalayas. Return to Pokhara for day of sightseeing to the International Mountain Museum; Bindhyabasini Temple, one of the oldest temples in Pokhara dedicated to the Goddess Bhagwati; Devi’s waterfall and Gupteshwor cave. Evening for relaxing on lakeside with stunning views of Machhapuchchhre peak reflected in Fewa Lake. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara.
DAY 5: POKHARA – NAGARKOT (2,195m) (231 kms)
Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu and directly on to Nagarkot. Nagarkot offers a panoramic view over the Kathmandu valley and stunning sunset and sunrise views over the Himalayas. On a clear day from Nagarkot you can see Mount Everest. Overnight at hotel in Nagarkot.
DAY 6: DEPART KATHMANDU
Transfer direct from Nagarkot to Kathmandu International Airport for return flight.
