Situated up in the High Himalaya Annapurna mountain range between Kagbeni and Muktinath is Damodar Kunda – a sacred lake set in the barren but beautiful landscape of Upper Mustang. Damodar Kunda holds a special religious significance for Hindus. The Lake is the source of the Kaligandaki River which flows south to the Indian border carrying with it a manifestation of Lord Vishnu – Damodar Kunda is the place of Lord Vishnu’s head, Muktinath his mouth, Shaligram Chakra his chest, Ru Ru Kshetra his waist, Devaghatam his knee and Gajendra Moksha Devadham his feet. Lord Krishna said that those who visit Damodar Kunda and bathe in its waters will be freed from all sin. For many Hindus a pilgrimage to the Holy Lake is a once in a life time opportunity. The views from Damodar Kunda are quite simply spectacular, with views north to the Tibetan Plateau and Damodar Himal and South to the Annapurna Himalayas.
This exclusive tour is ideal for those wanting to visit the Holy Lake but who are short on time. This tour will take you from Kathmandu by helicopter up to Damodar Kunda and the Holy Temple at Muktinath.
