This tour allows you to experience the vibrant city of Kathmandu with its dazzling mix of cultures, religions and architecture including a visit to one of its most sacred UNESCO world heritage sites. Once out of the valley this tour takes you to Pokhara with its spectacular Fewa Lake and views of snow-capped mountains it is the perfect place to relax before you fly to Jomsom, Mustang to visit the holy site of the Muktinath Temple with the soaring peaks of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountains as a backdrop.
DAY 1: KATHMANDU (1,400m)
Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and be met by a representative of Getaway! Himalayan Eco Trekking. Transfer to hotel.
Sightseeing trip to Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu Temples of Nepal. Located on the banks of the Bagmati River the temple is where holy sadhus come to pray and cremations are carried out.
DAY 2: KATHMANDU – POKHARA (827m) (210kms)
7 hour drive to Pokhara. On the way you can opt to do river rafting or take the cable car to visit the Manakamana Temple, sacred place of the Hindu goddess Bagwati. Overnight in resort at Pokhara.
DAY 3: POKHARA – JOMSOM (2800m)
Early morning transfer from hotel to Pokhara airport. 20 minute flight to Jomsom. After arriving at Jomsom airport there will be a very short walk to the hotel, porters will be waiting to carry your luggage. Please note that mountain accommodation is basic.
Visit Muktinath Temple (3,710m) at the foot of the Thorong La Mountain Pass, a sacred site for Hindus and Buddhists. This involves a 20 minute walk over the Kali Gandaki River, a 1.5 hour drive to the Temple base and a 30 minute walk to the temple gate. Return to Jomsom.
DAY 4: JOMSOM – POKHARA
Early morning flight to Pokhara. Transfer to hotel.
Sightseeing around Pokhara including Bindebasini Temple, one of the oldest temples in Pokhara dedicated to the Hindu goddess Durga; Devis Fall, a spectacular waterfall; Gupteshwor Cave and the beautiful Fewa Lake, from the lakeside if the weather is clear you have the most stunning view of Machhapuchchhre.
DAY 5: POKHARA – KATHMANDU (210km)
7 hour drive back to Kathmandu.
DAY 6: KATHMANDU – AIRPORT
Transfer from your hotel to Kathmandu International Airport for your return journey.
