According to religious Gurus all your sorrows and miseries will be relieved if you visit this temple once in your lifetime. The primary holy place is the pagoda shaped temple that is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. There are about 108 waterspouts on the walls of the temple from where holy water keeps on pouring all the time.
According to Tibetan Buddhists, the temple of Mukhtinath is called as Chumig Gyatsa, a place of Dakinis, goddesses known as Sky Dancers. This place has great significance among the Tibetan Buddhists. According to them Chumig Gyatsa is one of the 24 Tantric places.
According to Hindu religion, apart from the holy waters and the natural fire representing Brahma, the primary meaning of Muktinath area is the veneration of God Vishnu on the form of ammonites called Salagrama-Shilas.
You will come across with several other stories depicting about the Vishnu turning into stone and all the stories have a connection with the holy Kali Gandaki River and this river is also popularly called as Salagrami which is situated near to Muktinath Temple.
Some of the sings that you will discovered in Muktinath are the headwaters site and high mountain location and also the presence of several natural elements like fires and fossils and all these things have greatly enticed tourists and pilgrims from across the globe who are in search of god on earth to build a supernatural field or a sacred world where Vishnu and other gods are believed to abide. In Muktinath you will also find some wonders like burning fire on waters and some fossils of primitive sea animals found high in mountains. Besides being a sacred site, there are several other natural and supernatural elements found at Muktinath and it is considered as to be the site of attraction for pilgrims, Hindu and Buddhist alike. Apart from the three natural elements, fossils, natural gas fires and spring waters, there is also a sacred grove of popular trees in Muktinath. The trees found here are of species Populus Ciliate that are locally called as bhot pipal or lekh pipal.
Location:
Muktinath is beautifully nestled on the upper portion of the River Kali of Buri Gandaki on the northern part of the main Himalayan Range and south of Lo-Manthang or Mustang. The exact location of Muktinath is 29° 11’ N. latitude and 83° 53’E longitude at an elevation of 3,8000m (or approximately 12,500 ft) on the western slopes of the Damodar Himal, northern extension of the Annapurna Himalayan massif.
Muktinath is situated in high Himalayan arid region surrounding the China Tibetan Autonomous Area (Xizang). The northern part of Nepal is known as Bhot and the residents are called Bhotia. The holy shrine of Muktinath is located near headwaters of Jhong River; it is the tributary of Kali Gandaki.
Day 1: Meet/ Greet upon arrival in KTM.
Welcome by our representative and check in at the respective hotel.
Evening: We will visit Pashupatinath Temple to perform Puja/ Aarati.
Overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 2: Breakfast/ Drive to Domestic Airport ( 20 Min.)
Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Half day city tour of Pokhara valley including Mahadev cave, David’s falls and Bindabasini Temple. Explore the surroundings of lake sites In the evening,. Overnight Stay at hotel.
Day 3: Early morning, transfer to the Pokhara airport for your flight to Jomsom (25 Min Flight).
Upon arrival at Jomsom Airport, walk to ACAP office in order to stamp your Permit. Once the necessary permit done , we will escort you toward our hotel near by the airport. Meet your Guide to continue drive to Muktinath which normally takes about 2 Hrs. Perform worship (Puja), darsan by taking holy bath in the sacred 108 water spouts surrounding the temple; Also Darshan of Jwala Mai, Patal Ganga, Shiva Mandir will be made. Overnight stay in Jomsom.
Day 4: Early in the morning fly back to Pokhara.
And fly back to Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu. Half day sightseeing in Kathmandu.
Day 5: Drive to airport for departure flight.
Transfer to the Kathmandu International airport for your journey onwards.
