This tour has been carefully designed for those wanting to experience the many sacred sites of Nepal. It will take you on a spiritual journey into the colourful and vibrant city of Kathmandu to experience the many temples that Nepal’s capital has to offer. It will then fly you up 3,000 meters into the spectacular Mustang region of the Himalayas to the sacred site Muktinath, on to Lumbini – the birth place of Lord Buddha, Chitwan National Park where you can search for the elusive Tiger and finally to Janakpur located in the flatlands of the Terai where Goddess Sita was found.
DAY 1: KATHMANDU (1,400m)
Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and be met by a representative of Getaway! Himalayan Eco Trekking. Transfer to hotel.
Visit to Pashupatinath Temple – a UNESCO world heritage site – and one of the most sacred Hindu Temples of Nepal, dedicated to God Shiva and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 2: KATHMANDU – POKHARA (827m) (200km)
7 hour drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara.
DAY 3: POKHARA – JOMSOM (2,682m) – MUKTINATH (3,800m)
Early morning flight from Pokhara to Jomsom airport – 20 minutes. Overland from Jomsom to Muktinath, located at the foot of the Thorong La Pass. Opportunity to explore the local area before driving back to Jomsom. Overnight at hotel in Jomsom.
DAY 4: JOMSOM – POKHARA
Return flight to Pokhara. Day of sightseeing around Pokhara including Bindhyabasini Temple, dedicated to the Goddess Bhagwati; Devi’s waterfall; Mahadev cave and the Barahi Temple, the most important monument in Pokhara dedicated to the boar manifestation of Ajima. Afternoon and evening for relaxing around Lake Fewa – the second biggest lake in Nepal, which has stunning views of Machhapuchhre and the Annapurna mountain range. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara.
DAY 5: POKHARA – LUMBINI (200km)
6 hour drive from Pokhara to Lumbini. Afternoon to exlore the local area. Overnight at hotel in Lumbini.
DAY 6: LUMBINI – ROYAL CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK (106km)
3-4 hour drive from Lumbini to Chitwan National Park. Opportunity to go on safari, visit a local Tharu village, Tharu museum tour and do elephant bathing. Overnight at resort in Chitwan.
DAY 7: CHITWAN – JANAKPUR (179km)
7-8 hour drive from Chitwan along the Terai to Janakpur. Afternoon sightseeing to Janaki Mandir for evening puja. Overnight at hotel in Janakpur.
DAY 8: JANAKPUR – KATHMANDU (1,400m) (260km)
9-10 hour drive from Janakpur to Kathmandu via Manakamana Temple, sacred place of the Hindu Goddess Bhagwati, which is accessed by cable car. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
DAY 9: DEPART KATHMANDU
Transfer from hotel to Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, for return journey.
Optional extra: Everest Mountain flight.
